Free Story: “Tea With Silicate Gods” Now on Perihelion SF!

Greetings, friends! I’ve got a short story now up on Perihelion Science Fiction. Go and check it out! It’s a scifi tale about world-controlling AIs meddling in people’s love lives. A bit off-beat, yes, but fun! Many thanks to editors Sam Bellotto Jr. and Eric Jones for publishing it! Be sure to read the other stories in the anthology, too. I’m about half way through, and I’ve really liked all of them. Robin White’s story, in particular (“Suck the Oil Out With a Straw”) is very touching.

In other writing news, NO GOOD DEED is back in my editor’s hands after a furious week of crossing t’s, dotting i’s, and taking out the stupid bits. The backcover copy is almost up and the cover art will soon be revealed and everything is coming together nicely.

Which reminds me: if you haven’t read Book 1 yet, THERE’S STILL TIME! Go out and get THE OLDEST TRICK (which has both halves of the book) or, if you want to check it out on a trial basis, read THE IRON RING and IRON AND BLOOD in e-book form.

It is also available in dead tree format (i.e. “paperback”) in select bookstores (or online). If you need proof, I give you this overly large image to the right here. There it is! Just like a real author or something!

But Habershaw, what is the book about?

I’m glad you asked, disembodied voice! Here is the pitch:

Tyvian Reldamar—criminal mastermind, rogue mage, and smuggler of sorcerous goods—has just been betrayed by his longtime partner and left for dead in a freezing river. To add insult to injury, his mysterious rescuer took it upon himself to affix Tyvian with an iron ring that prevents the wearer from any evildoing.

Revenge just got complicated.

On his quest to get even, Tyvian navigates dark international conspiracies, dodges midnight assassins, and uncovers the plans of the ruthless warlord Banric Sahand—all while running from a Mage-Defender determined to lock him up. Tyvian will need to use every dirty trick in the book to avoid a painful and ignominious end, even as he discovers that sometimes even the world’s most devious man needs a shoulder to lean on.

Go forth! Read! Enjoy! Review!

My thanks!
