The Saga of the Redeemed

The story of Tyvian Reldamar – rogue, duelist, criminal, and very reluctant hero – as he wrestles with the magic ring on his finger that prevents him from doing evil and pushes him to do good.

An Explanation/Where to start: Upon it’s initial release, Book 1 (The Oldest Trick) was split into two halves at my publisher’s insistence. Therefore, though The Iron Ring is technically the first “book” in the series, it is really only half a book. I would encourage new readers to skip over The Iron Ring and Iron and Blood and go straight to The Oldest Trick. That said, if you just want to try the series out and don’t want to commit, feel free to buy The Iron Ring first and then, if it catches your fancy, proceed to Iron and Blood and then, if I’ve really sold you, to No Good Deed, which is book #2.

Tyvian Reldamar—criminal mastermind, rogue mage, and smuggler of sorcerous goods—has just been betrayed by his longtime partner and left for dead in a freezing river. To add insult to injury, his mysterious rescuer took it upon himself to affix Tyvian with an iron ring that prevents the wearer from any evildoing.

Revenge just got complicated.

On his quest to get even, Tyvian navigates dark international conspiracies, dodges midnight assassins, and uncovers the plans of the ruthless warlord Banric Sahand—all while running from a Mage-Defender determined to lock him up. Tyvian will need to use every dirty trick in the book to avoid a painful and ignominious end, even as he discovers that sometimes even the world’s most devious man needs a shoulder to lean on.

Part II of the Saga of the Redeemed picks up right where The Iron Ring left off …

After Tyvian Reldamar gets double-crossed by his business partner, he is affixed with an iron ring that prevents the wearer from any evildoing. Not one to be deterred by this set-back, he quickly puts into motion a plan for revenge—one that will use every dirty trick in the book.

But things are never simple for mastermind Tyvian, especially not after he uncovers a sinister plot: evil wizard Banric Sahand is planning to decimate the city of Freegate. Now Tyvian must learn to work with—and rely on—his motley crew of accomplices including an adolescent pickpocket, an obese secret-monger, a fearsome gnoll, and a Mage Defender…who is also trying to get him arrested. Time is running out for Tyvian’s plan for revenge—while the fate of the city hangs in the balance.

THE OLDEST TRICK_Book #1: THE OLDEST TRICK (Buy on Amazon, B&N, Kobo, and all major e-book retailers; also available in paperback!)

Compiled for the first time, The Oldest Trick comprises The Iron Ring and Iron and Blood in the Saga of the Redeemed

Cursed with a magic ring that forbids skullduggery, Tyvian Reldamar’s life of crime is sadly behind him. Now reduced to fencing moldy relics and wheedling favors from petty nobility, he’s pretty sure his life can’t get any worse.

That is until he hears that his old nemesis, Myreon Alafarr, has been framed for a crime she didn’t commit and turned to stone in a penitentiary garden. Somebody is trying to get his attention, and that somebody is playing a very high-stakes game that will draw Tyvian and his friends back to the city of his birth and right under the noses of the Defenders he’s been dodging for so long. And that isn’t even the worst part. The worst part is that the person pulling all the strings is none other than the most powerful sorceress in the West: Lyrelle Reldamar.

Tyvian’s own mother.

Book #3: DEAD BUT ONCE (Available everywhere e-books are sold on 4/17/18, in paperback on 5/1)

A brilliant schemer never rests, but for Tyvian Reldamar, he might finally be over his head. The Saga of the Redeemed continues with Dead But Once, Auston Habershaw’s latest fantasy following The Oldest Trick and No Good Deed.

Arch-criminal Tyvian Reldamar has gotten complacent.

For him, he’s reached the pinnacle of all he’s really hoping to achieve: he’s got money, he’s got women (some of which aren’t even trying to kill him), and he’s got his loyal friends and family nearby and safe.

Except…maybe not so safe.

Because this is Eretheria, a city known as much for its genteel aristocracy as for its diabolical scheming. Long without a king, the scions of the ruling families scrabble for control–including levying cruel taxes and drafts on the peasantry in order to wage “polite” wars against each other.

And now, of course, Tyvian is finding himself drawn into it.

With a swashbuckling flare, old fans and new readers alike will be swept up into this world of magic, crime, and political intrigue where life is cheap and justice too expensive.

Auston Habershaw’s epic fantasy series, The Saga of the Redeemed, which began with The Oldest Trick, comes to a powerful conclusion in The Far Far Better Thing.

War has come to Eretheria.

With Tyvian Reldamar feigning his death, the forces that still carry his banner are left to fight a vicious battle against the warlord Banric Sahand and the noble houses that flock to his side.

Led by Myreon and Artus, this band of freedom fighters and angry rebels is faced with an enemy the likes of which they’ve never faced before: one who will do anything, no matter how brutal, to secure victory.

Having had his fill of death, Tyvian tries to run away from the war fought in his name, but it just isn’t that simple. With his mother held prisoner, Artus and Myreon in grave danger, and Xahlven pulling the strings in the background, the ring drags Tyvian to return and set things right.

But how can one man fix a world this broken? And what will be left behind when the smoke clears? No one can say for sure.

Least of all Tyvian.

  1. OK, I see you have the 3rd book scheduled for Fall of 2015. It is now 2016, really need this book. Get back to work.:)

    • Thanks for the reply! That reminds me to update the release info: it’s currently slated for April 2016. It’s also not my fault! I’m just waiting for my editor to get back to me with notes. Once I get them, I’ll edit the book and get it turned around.

(I’ve been waiting since last May!)

  2. You need a better editor. in a world of self publishing options, it seems a challenge to accommodate the strictures and disadvantages of the traditional publishing houses. In a world of awful writing, it’s fun to find basic fantasy that is accessible yet penned by someone with better than the 5th grade vocabulary and a willingness to venture beyond the coming of age paradigm popularized by series like Twilight, Fallen, and similar.

  3. Any thoughts on another book? I absolutely love the series and any news would be awesome thanks!

    • Hi there! So glad you liked the series!
I can’t make a formal announcement yet about any upcoming books, but you can expect one soon. I’m pretty sure Tyvian will return, and probably this year. Keep your fingers crossed and watch this blog. As soon as I can make an announcement, I’ll post it here first. Thanks again!
